GS1 Latvia is the national organization for automatic identification in Latvia – the only official representative of the international GS1 organization in the country and one of 120 national GS1 organizations worldwide.
In Latvia, we are the sole legal source for obtaining GS1 barcodes – all barcodes issued by us begin with the prefix 475. We provide our member companies with the ability to identify their products, locations, assets, and services in accordance with open, globally recognized GS1 standards and rules, ensuring the use of unique identification numbers.These can be represented by barcodes such as EAN-13, EAN-8, ITF-14, GS1-128, or next-generation 2D codes like GS1 DataMatrix and GS1-powered QR codes.
We maintain the online system “mansGS1” and ensure the availability of all GS1 barcodes registered in Latvia in the global database “Verified by GS1.” This registry allows verification of both the authenticity of barcodes and the licence ownership of company prefixes.
Additionally, we perform barcode print quality verification, provide consultations and training on GS1 standards and their applications.
GS1 Latvia is also the authorized registration agent for GS1 LEI codes in Latvia, offering support for obtaining Legal Entity Identifiers (LEI codes). -
